An 1863 Neenah stove
Brothers W.N. and A.K. Moore started the Neenah Stove Works in 1854. The works occupied a building on Main Street, which is still there today, on the north side between the overpass and the slough.
The business went through a succession of owners, including Edward and Hiram Smith of our Octagon House. The works’ final owner was Bergstrom Bros. The business closed in the 1930s.
This “Farmer No. 9” cooking stove dates from 1863; it is the oldest Neenah stove yet discovered. It came from a farm in central Minnesota, by way of a local historical society. The stove is on display in the Octagon House.mansions.
